June 19 - Ronaldo to announce Future in 2-3 Days
After Portugal's defeat at the hands of Germany Ronaldo said: "In two or three days time I will announce my future because the tournament is over for me. I will speak to Manchester United. I will try to reach an agreement and we will see."

June 19 - Boulahrouz to Play despite Family Tragedy
Coach Marco van Basten said on Thursday that defender Khalid Boulahrouz will stay with their Euro 2008 squad despite a family tragedy. Boulahrouz's wife Sabia was taken to hospital with pregnancy complications and the couple's prematurely-born daughter later died.

June 12 - Ivica Vastic olderst player to score in EURO History
In scoring the penalty against Poland Austria's Ivica Vastic became the oldest player (at 38 years and 257 days) to score in the tournament's finals' history, breaking a record that had stood since 1984 when Portugal's Frasco Nené struck the only goal of his side's victory against Romania. At the time he was 34 years and 213 days.

June 11 - Host Switzerland out of EURO 2008
Co-host Switzerland is the first team to be eliminated from the tournament. The Swiss team was unfortunate to lose their opening game 0 - 1 to the Czech Republic although they had more shots on goal and more shots on target than the Czech. Today they scored first against the Turks and came away 1 - 2 loser in a rainy game where they failed to make their chances count.

June 10 - Romania's Marica rushed to hospital
Romania striker Ciprian Marica has been rushed to hospital with a head injury. The 22-year-old Stuttgart player suffered the injury in a collision with team-mate Marius Niculae during training on Tuesday.

June 7 - Swiss Captain out with knee injury
Switzerland suffered a major blow to their EURO 2008 ambitions when it was learned that captain Alexander Frei will miss the rest of the tournament. A first half collision between the Swiss record goalscorer and Czech defender Zdenek Grygera saw the former limp off the field in tears, fearing the worst. An MRI scan confirmed that Frei tore interior ligaments in his left knee which will rule him out for up to seven weeks.

June 7 - UEFA approves replacement for Kuszczak
UEFA has given Poland permission to replace the injured Tomasz Kuszczak with goalkeeper Wojciech Kowalewski in the team's squad at the European Championship.

June 6 - Poland lose another player to injury
Having already lost midfielder Jakub Blaszczykowski, Poland now have to deal with the unfortunate news that goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak has been forced out of Euro 2008. The goalkeeper has suffered a back injury and will not be able to take part in EURO 2008.

Team spokeswoman Marta Alf confirmed: "After a spine scan in hospital in Graz and after consultations with a Uefa doctor it has been assessed Kuszczak will be out for three weeks."

June 5 - Italian referee for EURO opener
Roberto Rosetti of Italy will referee Saturday's Euro 2008 opener between Switzerland and the Czech Republic. UEFA made the announcement on Thursday that the 40-year-old hospital director from Turin will take charge of the Group A opening game at Basel's St. Jakob Park. He also refereed at the 2006 World Cup final.

June 5 - Poland midfielder Jakub Blaszczykowski out of EURO 2008
Another key player will miss the EURO 2008 tournament. It was reported Thursday that Poland midfielder Jakub Blaszczykowski will not be available after aggravating a hamstring injury. Team doctors examined the 22-year-old Borussia Dortmund player after a Thursday morning training session and decided he would not be fit in time for the group stages of the tournament.

June 5 - Italy replaces injured Cannavaro with Gamberini
Fiorentina defender Alessandro Gamberini has been called up by Italian coach Roberto Donadoni to replace injured captain Fabio Cannavaro. Gamberini is happy to get the chance to make a mark in his own right on the tournament which starts for Italy on Monday against Holland in Berne.

June 2 - Cannavaro ruled out of EURO 2008
Fabio Cannavaro tore ligaments in his left ankle as he crashed to the ground after colliding with teammate Giorgio Chiellini in Italy's first training session in Austria.

Six hours after Italy's plane touched down in Vienna, the Real Madrid defender was taken to hospital for X-rays after a collision with team-mate Giorgio Chiellini. He very likely will miss the EURO 2008 tournament. His replacement has not yet been determined.
